Comments: Having just returned from the French Med we considered ourselves 'fooded out', especially for SA fare.
A friend emailed and said he had been knocked out by this place - under new ownership/management for the last eight weeks. As with such a recommendation, you're already psyched for a little less that 'what's on the box'.

I was completely blown away by the whole experience. The new owner, Inacio, is over everything, organizing, checking, booking and most of all making sure the guests are attended to. We chatted at length and he said that the spot was perfect for him - he wanted to focus on local clientele, understanding that the tourist dollar was icing on the cake - and he was doing that by buying the best ingredients, serving simple and quality meals and charging a fair price.
Where that may sound like more rhetoric it simply isn't. I had a salami, rocket and shaved Parmesan pizza which was simply one of the best I've eaten. And I've been around.. My wife has tried the calamari, kids a margherita pizza and the friends we were with last night, the Portuguese steak. All was excellent. It really does get my 'two thumbs up', although a little reluctantly. I like being able to wonder in and not having to book - if he carries on like this it'll be a thing of the past!
And finally the wines are fabulous, and, again, well priced. I can't remember the label but he serves cab berries at R122, which is an absolute bargain. Don't go for a couple of days, though, we drank the last lot and delivery isn’t till the weekend!
