Ambiance: Casual Main course (avg): R100 Licensed: yes Open: Dinner Tuesday - Saturday from 19h00 onwards.
Description: Wicker Woods was established in August of 2000 on the site of the old Green Turtle in Mount Croix. This quaint old house retains all the original fixtures and fittings including the beautiful oregon pine floors and is air-conditioned for those hot summer evenings. On chilly winter nights sit at the comfortable bar and enjoy the roaring fires. The bar serves a dual purpose. Not only can you enjoy a drink whilst perusing the menu, but also make your selection from a vast array of wines from a host of South African estates. Proprietor Joel Malkinson has built the restaurant on the basic fundamentals of personalised service, offering fine cuisine consistently night after night. “We pride ourselves on offering outstanding service, a relaxed atmosphere and a wonderful eating experience” says Joel. The menu is chalked up on a good old fashioned blackboard but Joel is always on hand to discuss the various dishes, how they are prepared and the various ingredients. Starters include the Grilled Calamari Steak served with a lemon and coriander butter sauce on a bed of rice - both light and fresh and extremely flavourful. The light and crispy Spring Rolls are also excellent and are served with a sweet chilli dipping sauce. For mains, the steaks are tender and tasty and the Chicken Stir Fry is delicious in a hoisin-based sauce, mingled with strips of chicken breast, peanuts and crunchy in-season vegetables. There are also fish and vegetarian dishes and the Lamb Shank is eternally popular. |
