Description: Situated in the chic Benmore Gardens Shopping Centre, O'Galito has a serene stylish interior that is both elegant and sophisticated. Renowned for serving top quality fare, O'Galito was voted Best Seafood Restaurant by the Gauteng Gourmet Festival and has featured in the Top 100 Restaurant list. It has also played host to famous food presenter Ainsley Herriott, who was filming a show for BBC Food. It is not surprising therefore, that O'Galito has an impressively large local clientele, with plenty of celebrities, sports personalities and government ministers. Since it’s move from Village Walk, the new look O’Galito has more than doubled its seating capacity thanks to a sheltered terrace, as well as the vast upstairs area complete with impressive sushi counter. A state of the art glass wine room houses a cross section of wines from different estates, including some of the more popular Portuguese wines. Well appointed tables and immaculately attired waitrons, set the mood for upmarket dining in a superb atmosphere. The menu focuses on Seafood, together with a selection of Portuguese specialties. Starter recommendations include a cold Seafood Platter, fresh Oysters, and the traditional spicy "Chourico" pork sausage. The Shellfish - Prawns, Langoustines, and Lobster are all popular main courses, together with the Seafood Platters which are available in a variety of combinations. For meat lovers, the Trinchado (diced fillet in a creamy wine and garlic sauce) is highly recommended, as well as the roast Duck with Grand Marnier liquor. The dessert menu is substantial with traditional favourites such as Tiramisu, Crème Brulee and Chocolate Brownies and plenty of liquor-based ice cream options. |
