La Campagnola is owned and run by Anna Fontana, who together with the Head Chef Luca Mantoan, serve superb Italian cuisine in delightful surrounds. Having worked in both Switzerland and Italy for several years, Luca Mantoan is a master of his trade, and it is not surprising therefore that dinner reservations are essential.

La Campagnola has a well stocked deli with an interesting selection of Italian delicacies, as well as a wine list that offers well known Italian wines alongside a good selection of South African estates. The restaurant is fortunate to have the services of a trained Sommelier to assist with the correct choice of wine to compliment your meal.

The pleasing interior is decorated in warm earthy tones and features attractive arched windows which overlook the terrace. Colourful murals add interest to the walls, together with a large display of wine which occupies most of one wall. The restaurant leads out to a pretty terrace surrounded by shrubs and trees, and there are plenty of tables with shady umbrellas for making the most of al fresco dining on warm summer days.

La Campagnola?s cigar bar also offers a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a fine after dinner cigar. The a la carte menu features only starters, salads and pastas as the main courses vary according to what?s in season and are usually explained at your table. Starter recommendations include the pan-fried calf brains with brandy and cream, and the smoked salmon carpaccio.

The choice of salads and pastas is substantial with plenty of options for vegetarians, such as the penne Campagnola with cashew nuts, mushrooms and ricotta cheese. Main course specialities include a tender rack of lamb, veal escalopes with asparagus, and a superb beef fillet.
