Description: Rui Maduro, owner of Canto Latino has succeeded admirably in re-creating a traditional tapas bar and Spanish style restaurant in the heart of Rivonia. The attractive enclosed courtyard has a large bar counter and plenty of outside seating for those who wish to enjoy al fresco dining on warm summer evenings, along with a display of fabulous flamenco dancing (on Saturdays). Canto Latino is well supported by the local community who enjoy the bustling ambience and the well priced menu which offers a wide selection of Spanish and Portuguese cuisine, as well as an impressive selection of tapas. Choosing from the menu is no easy task as the meat and fish options are endless and there are plenty of starters, plus of course the tapas menu. The first recommendation is definitely the home baked bread with tomato and olive, followed by some of the more popular tapas such as the Spanish Tortilla, Calamari a la Romana, and the Prawns in Garlic. For those who opt straight for the main menu, the traditional Paella is a feast worth waiting for as it contains a delectable mix of pork, chouriço sausage, clams, mussels, prawns and calamari. Other specialities worth mentioning are the Lamb Shank basted with a Mediterranean sauce, and the Canto Latino Fillet served with a Cognac and mushroom sauce. To accompany your meal choose from a selection of well known Spanish and Portuguese wines including the top of the range Rioja. |
