Description: It would be hard to find a more welcoming place than the dining room at The White Boy Shebeen. It is a superb venue offering a selection of South African cuisine and a variety of other dishes from all over the world, fusing many food styles. The kitchen would enjoy the challenge of preparing a special dish for you, and if you have dietary restrictions, a call in advance will enable us to prepare something very special, which we know you will enjoy. The brilliant rainbow colours of the building containing the restaurant indicates the wide and eclectic range of food which is on offer at The Shebeen. Whilst the name Shebeen has been accepted in the South African vocabulary, it is in reality derived from Gaelic and means "Little Mug". A "shebeen" was a venue usually in a private home where friends gathered to share whiskey together on which no excise had been paid and it evolved into a warm and friendly venue, where the hosts offered food and drink to guests. Head chef: Alan Gerson & Bob Knuckey Signature dish: Benedikt Sebastian |
