Shatabdi, a small, intimate, boutique restaurant in the heart of Sunninghill, reflects the charm and diversity of the Motherland. Here, your taste buds will thrill to the variety of exotic flavours and the rich assortment of memorable dishes.

Highly-skilled Chefs, Masters of the Kitchen, carefully prepare each dish with passion and pride. A symphony of herbs and spices, cloves, saffron, cinnamon, ginger, coriander, turmeric and more takes you on a fragrant journey from the Punjab to Goa, from Hyderabad to Kashmir.

Try tender chicken in creamy saffron, poppy seed and cashew nut magic. Or lamb simmered in cardamom and fennel delights. A mouth-watering variety of vegetarian and vegan wonders awaits you. Light, fluffy, butter naan is the perfect accompaniment. Round off a memorable meal with sweet, frothy, Indian coffee and a fresh raspberry sorbet or dreamy, creamy, coconut kulfi ice cream.

Each flavourful dish will linger in your mouth and mind – and call you back again and again. Come to Shatabdi– the glorious cuisine of India awaits you.

Favourite little restaurant, 27 May 2010
Reviewer: Richard (Adventurousness: What is the chef's special today?)

Comments: I really really love their food! Quiet & unassuming, they make meals that I start drooling even thinking about. There are quite a few Indian places around here but that's our favourite.

Amazing Food, 26 Jan 2010
Reviewer: R-G (Adventurousness: What is the chef's special today?)

Comments: We've been to this restaurant many times since I wrote my last review and the food continues to amaze us. Salia, the Chef, is a true professional - every dish is prepared fresh, no frozen stuff sprinkled with garam masala. His Indian breads are fabulous, too.

This is undoubtedly the best Indian restaurant in South Africa.

I apologise for saying that they serve Pakistani food in my last review, Vinit & Salia are Hindus, as is their wonderful food.
