A little skeptical at first from the dank, musty entrance hall of the hotel, we were lead up wooden walkways which were a little slippery in heels, probably due to recent rains, and approached the restaurant. Inside the atmosphere was warm and inviting with big lights shining up into the hills. Bats swamped and feasted on insects drawn to the lights. We had a lovely meal, the wine menu was very lacking but luckily we bought a bottle of Rupert de Rothschild classique with us. We ordered our starters, mains and desserts at the same time and the serving of the food was flawless. As one plate was collected another was brought out. I had the duck with hoison sauce for starters, my fiance had the springbok carpaccio with chilli and chocolate. My many years in restaurants made me warn him that it would taste exactly how it sounded, and it did. But the duck was delicious. For mains I had the salmon and my fiance had the deboned lamp shank. Although seemingly small at first separate bowls with roasted vegetables allowed for a delicious and filling meal. I've never eaten better cooked fish and the slow roasted shank was cooked to perfection. By the time we got to dinner both of us were completely full but felt that we would be doing an injustice by not eating dessert. The medley of chocolate was absolutely descendant. We decided that the meal spoke for itself and booked the restaurant. Hopefully the accommodation will also be as pleasantly surprising. "

The food was excellent. Menu is not very big but it caters for all tastes. I had the fillet which was excellent. My wife had the sweet corn panzarotti which was very good."
