Here you will find award-wining wines, a delightful deli and an amazing Riverboat, The Uncle Ben II, which takes guests on a 50 minute river cruise whilst enjoying great wines and a picnic basket or two, filled with amazing treats available from the deli.

Picnics can also be enjoyed on the banks of the river under the trees or at one of the lovely benches.

There are three wonderful wine ranges to enjoy during wine tasting - the Premium Cellermaster's Selection, Flagship River Grandeur and the easy drinking Viljoensdrift wines, all available at the tasting area and available to purchase from the deli at great prices.

On a beautiful Saturday morning while in the Valley we headed down to Viljoensdrift. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff and received our tickets for the much anticipated riverboat cruise. With some time to spare we made our way to the tasting area and enjoyed the variety of wines on offer. My favourite has to be the crisp and light River Grandeur Sauvignon Blanc, with aromas of green figs and asparagus as well as grass-cut and granadilla undertones. Crisp and lively with a refreshing and zesty finish.

After the delicious tasting we headed to the well-stocked deli to create our own unique picnic basket to enjoy while on the cruise. Our basket consisted of freshly baked ciabatta and butter, a variety of cream cheese, melba toast, a mixed pepper relish (my new obsession), a divine roll of ham, cheddar and mozzarella, biltong, nougat and of course a bottle of wine - all neatly packed in a lovely picnic box along with a wooden board, knife and table cloth.

The cruise surpassed all our expectations - we had a blast of a time and really enjoyed this unique experience at Viljoensdrift. We will definitely be back again soon!
