Restaurant description

Canvas Grill (previously Maestro?s) is a recently established halaal restaurant located in the very heart of Morningside.

Originally conceptualised in November 2013 by brother and sister team ? Tasnim and Ismail Arbee, who have taken on the exciting challenge of providing Durban with a decidedly unique and exciting concept restaurant. Taking inspiration from the great artistes over time and cultures, the restaurant pays homage to these legends by presenting dishes which are, in themselves, masterpieces. The restaurant concept is also decidedly unique in that they offer patrons an opportunity to try unusual and unique dishes with the introduction of a seasonal menu. The seasonal menu spans a time-frame of around 4 months and comprises dishes like ostrich, duck, oxtail which are not typically on offer in sunny Durbs.

Experienced and well-known local Chef Ismail Arbee has ventured on his own to create a fresh, new and innovative menu that incorporates his signature dishes as well as a few unique fusion-style dishes. He strives to perfect the basics but also manages to provide patrons with an adventurous palate, something to anticipate. The unwavering passion for his trade can be tasted in each bite, as eyes feast on the attention to detail paid to each dish. His unique and fresh approach to this timeless art-form will certainly keep patrons coming back for more.
