Description: The Klische Family welcome you to the Black Forest Tavern where Wolfgang, his daughter Heidi and son Lars, will treat you to true German hospitality. The Tavern consists of a warm and friendly pub, a German restaurant and an upmarket B&B. The latter consists of 10 quality rooms each complete with en-suite, fridge, air-conditioning and TV with overseas channels. The Black Forest Tavern is a Pinetown landmark having been in Hill Street for twenty four years and at the present location for the last six. Lars is the man in the kitchen running everything with true German efficiency. The menu is a delight of classic German dishes and other national favourites. Start with the Schnecken a la Schwarzwaldstube, mushrooms filled with snails, covered with a Roquefort-garlic sauce, or the Herring salad in cream with apple, onion and gherkin. Popular main courses are the Eisbein with Sauerkraut and Potato, The Pork Potroast in a brown mustard sauce with vegetables and potato puree or when in season, the Venison. The menu is extensive and includes mouth watering Chicken, Pork, and Veal dishes as well as Rump and Fillet Steak and the Spare Ribs in a traditional marinade. Not to be missed are the specials which change monthly for an unbelievable R36.50. To be expected in a Tavern of the same name, desserts include Black Forest Cake in addition to Tiramisu, Chocolate Mousse "Topaz" and other mouth watering choices. |
