Restaurant description

The Drostdy is a well-known landmark, not only in Stellenbosch but throughout the whole of South Africa. In April 1996 an enormous change took place at the Dros with the formation of the 'Dros Concept', a combination between a wine cellar and a restaurant. The founder and owner, Mr Hein Krugmann, wanted to present the public with a truly South African concept accessible to all ages and tastes. This concept proved successful as many people from all over the country, as well as overseas visitors, frequented the Dros. This in turn led to the franchising of this unique restaurant.

The concept behind the design is to combine Stellenbosch wine cellars with good food and a warm ambience using d?cor unique to the Cape Wine Route, which had long been present in the wine cellar characteristics of the Dros. The historically rich past and traditions of the Dros, combined with food of outstanding quality and good service, make Dros an irresistible South African favourite.

Ensuring that those of all ages and tastes are catered for, Dros offers a wide variety of fun distractions for the whole family. Sports Lovers can remain glued to live sports fixtures on our large TV screens, while kids are kept occupied in our fun-tastic Kidz Play Areas. Wine connoisseurs are invited to experiment with our extensive wine selection, while those with more homely tastes are welcomed to our bar area where choices abound in drafts, beers, cocktails and other firm favourites.

Besides this, Dros? strength has always been firmly grounded in preparing and serving, high-quality, tasty food. Visit us and experience our premium quality prime steaks and grills, succulent ribs, juicy burgers, fresh salads, pizzas, desserts and more - all are Dros favourites!
