Situated in Hout Bay, this restaurant was originally a residential house which was then converted into a bar in 1998. The owners were persuaded by friends to incorporate dining and eventually, the Alpenstube restaurant was created in 2001 - with just five tables for guests. Since then, their popularity has grown and now diners can enjoy meals in their indoor or outdoor areas, as well as the sheltered beer garden. Regulars often enjoy live music as well as imported beer such as Goesser and Paulaner Weissbier. Their bar is called "Zum Treff", meaning the meeting place, and is extremely popular for sports events.
