Description: The Newlands Wijnhuis is situated on the first floor of the fashionable Kildare Center. The area known as the “Newlands Village” has become a sought after shopping area, home too many of the country’s finest clothing boutiques and designer outlets. The restaurant is frequented by business people from nearby office parks, local residents. It is also popular with tourists staying at the numerous guest houses and at the renowned Vineyard Hotel which is a stone’s throw away. Guests are accommodated on the casual patio area, the wine bar or in one of several more private function areas. The kitchen specializes in Italian Food as it was in large part inherited from our sister restaurant, La Perla in Sea Point. Specialty pizzas from our wood-burning oven and our Kalahari lamb and venison dishes are to be recommended. Functions are catered for and can be hosted in three separate areas in the restaurant: the balcony, in the library for snacks and drinks or in the board room upstairs for a sit-down dinner. The patio with the lush slopes of Table Mountain as a backdrop is popular in summer while the cozy library and its fireplace are popular in winter. Our wine list is compiled by the Wijnhuis Stellenbosch and comprises of more than 400 wines. Guests are encouraged to sample from our tasting menu or from our selection of 20 wines per glass. |
