Description:
One of Cape Town’s oldest restaurants, The Buzbey Grill has been run by the legendary Chef-Patron Jimmy Kyritsis for more than 20 years. Located at the foot of Glengariff Road, Buzbey’s retro neon signage is a landmark as you enter Seapoint from the Cape Town side. The Art Deco look is continued inside with the open kitchen, curved bar lighting and the pictures of classic singers on the walls, complementing the jazz and blues that Jimmy plays in the background as you enjoy some of the best food in Cape Town.

More than 80% of the clientele are regulars, a testimony to Jimmy’s excellence at what he does best, the consistently good service, attention to detail and the feeling that your table is yours for the evening - no pressure, no rush. He firmly believes that a good restaurant needs a hands-on owner to create that crucial difference between an excellent restaurant and the merely mediocre. Watching Jimmy at work, preparing your food gives new understanding to this belief, turning you into yet another Buzbey regular.

With steaks that are arguably the best in Cape Town it is surprising to find so much else that is of such outstanding quality. The Pan Fried Calamari, whole baby calamari cooked in garlic & chilli sauce is one of Buzbey’s classic starters, so popular it is regularly chosen as a main dish and the Black Mussels cooked in a white wine sauce are rich and delicious. The pan fried Pepper Steak is legendary, fillet rubbed in cracked pepper with a brandy and creamed sauce and is a must for the first time visitor to Buzbey’s. The Hollandse Biefstuk, Entrecote Madagascar and Roquefort Steak provide great alternative meat dishes as does the Pork Spare Ribs. With a selection of Chicken and Seafood plus great Stir Fry dinners it easy to understand why this long standing restaurant has such a loyal following. Definitely not to be missed.
