Description: Chandani is an Indian and vegetarian restaurant offering a fusion between Western and Indian dishes for lunch - a weigh your plate buffet, and at night we serve a normal Indian curry house a la carte. Woodstock is currently undergoing a much needed revival which includes the development of Roodebloem Road as the restaurant Mecca of this suburb, and it is here that you will find Chandani. The name translates as “moonlight” which was the theme chosen by owners Jagdish and Dina to reflect the silver and purple colour scheme which forms the basis of stunning interior. Each room of this charming old house has been individually decorated with an antique balcony or “zaroka”. At the back of the restaurant a tiny courtyard complete with antique wooden window frames, provides a delightful sheltered area for alfresco dining. With meticulous attention to detail clearly evident in every aspect of the interior, it is fitting that the same attention has been focused on the menu. A solid clay oven (weighing over 400kg) was specially imported to ensure that the cooking methods are indeed authentic, and all dishes are displayed in attractive pewter serving dishes. |
