Description: Lemon Butta restaurant is situated upstairs in the Village Square complex along Marine Drive in Hermanus. The views from up there - spanning the entire coastline and across to Gansbaai - are breathtaking, and it's one of the best places for whale watching. The main show-stopper is the sushi served at Lemon Butta: a fantastically fresh variety of high quality salmon, tuna, octopus and line fish, cut with delicate precision by charismatic Master Sushi Chef Jaylor Bonayon, a trained specialist in Japanese cuisine. He is very accommodating to your sushi needs and always asks whether you enjoyed his sushi, unlike in most restaurants where you're often served mediocre sushi by expressionless assembly-line chefs. Sushi aside, the menu at Lemon Butta is extensive and caters for every palate. Everything is delicious: from traditional hake and chips freshly filleted to order, to the Seafood Paella with its finger-licking Napolitana sauce, or the Cajun-style grilled calamari - a delicious variation to a seafood restaurant staple. The whole baby Kingklip is out of this world - tender and tasty, yet clean and fresh. One must also try the shellfish selections - Langoustines, Tiger Giants, Crayfish and sticky, messy, beautiful prawn and crab curries. Lemon Butta’s hands-on owner Paul Buckingham, has vastly improved the wine selection, adding local wines to pair perfectly with your food choice. His upbeat influence on the establishment is rather infectious - one often stays seated long after lunch has been had - to polish off that last glass of wine, or drink a perfectly frothed cappuccino, listening to his jazzy, retro-funk music selection and mesmerizingly watch the whales jump out of the sea, wave their tails, and bellow water out of their blowholes.
