Description: The Bell Tavern has become one of Knysna's favourite spots for a good pub meal. The old farm building has been sympathetically restored and retains its rough charm, and can seat up to 40 people inside, with an overflow in the summer to outside tables. Serving a choice of grills, pies, burgers and salads, its the perfect venue for hotel guests and visitors looking for somewhere to relax with a glass of locally brewed Foresters beer, a glass of wine or something stronger. The Bell features a window in the floor which looks into the small stone-lined wine cellar, which in years gone by would have stored game shot in the surrounding forests. Menu favourites are the hearty chicken & mushroom or steak pies which are baked daily, and Belvidere's "flagship" Malva pudding, whose recipe is jealously guarded. Head chef: Bjorn Sivertsen |
