Description:
Just a two hour drive from Cape Town, in the elbow of the majestic Langeberg lies the historic town of Montagu.

Here, you will find Jessica's Restaurant, where guests can enjoy a romantic candle-light dinner in this beautifully restored Victorian home dating back to the late 1800's. On Montagu's warm summer evenings, dinner are served under the stars - in a lush garden with terraces, wooden deck and water feature.

The restaurant is home to Werner and Adele Joubert and are full of antique furniture, old books and a Russ teddy bear here and there... Artists from Montagu and surrounding towns also use these high walls for exhibiting original paintings throughout the year.

From Chef Heinrich-Werner's kitchen you can expect wonderful food, created with artistic flair and an absolute attention to detail; he has added new Sous Vide dishes to his A la Carte menu. At Jessica's we use fresh and local ingredients, vegetables and herbs are picked early in the morning, for that crisp sweet taste, Rob one of the locals in town, often surprises us with bags full of fresh basil, chillies, aubergines and fennel on our stoep...

Heinrich-Werner's firm favorite on his menu must be the Tiger prawns flambéed with Pernod, set on ginger and saffron risotto drizzled with wasabi vinaigrette and then, of course there is his crispy duck, golden brown and glistening, fresh Rainbow Trout from Franschhoek is also served daily! Desserts has much to offer, but... ask one who had the crème brulée with the perfect sugary top, this is surely the best...

Werner's wine list are a collection of wonderful wines from the R62, he has done allot of tasting and some of these cellars has been visited more than once... to find the perfect Merlot, Pinotage and Shiraz. His love for the nectar of the gods, are clearly shown in his wine menu.

Owners Werner, Adele and Chef Heinrich-Werner welcome you to Jessica's and ensure that you have a memorable evening, where we give personal service and attention at all times.

Jessica's Restaurant... where a passion for culinary excellence and carefully selected wines meet...

Head chef: Heinrich-Werner Blom

Signature dish: Karoo Trio
Apart from Chef Heinrich-Werner's crispy roast duck, Jessica's is also quite known for its Karoo Trio - Oudtshoorn Ostrich with lime-leaf sauce, Karoo Lamb with Cabernet jus and Springbok served with a cranberry-blackpepper sauce.. a must during your visit to the Karoo.

Best we've had in SA, 30 May 2010
Reviewer: Doug (Adventurousness: What is the chef's special today?)

Comments: My wife and I have just returned to the UK from a seven week holiday in South Africa which included a trip on ROVOS Rail from Cape Town to Victoria Falls. We visited your restaurant on Friday 6th November and want to tell you that the meal was THE BEST that we sampled in our entire trip. CONGRATULATIONS to you all. Kind regards Doug and Jenny Lowther

Loved every moment at Jessica's, 30 May 2010
Reviewer: Doug (Adventurousness: What is the chef's special today?)

Comments: The hotel made us reservations at a place called Jessica’s, we sat out in a garden at the back of the property and had one of the nicest meals we've ever had. We both started with Warthog Carpaccio - our second Carpaccio of the trip and second Carpaccio ever - it was delicious and next time we watch the Lion King we'll be eyeing up Pumba as a starter! Next I had Karoo Lamb whilst Tim had a Karoo Trio which was Lamb, Ostrich and Springbok; I'm surprised there is any wildlife left at the rate South Africans munch through it! They also do wine by the glass which is actually around a third of a bottle. This glass will set you back around £2 and is good stuff. The total bill for both of us to have 3 courses + wine + water was just under £40. This was a top end restaurant and you can eat really well for less than half that if you shop around. All food + wine lovers should visit here; we've yet to eat anything that wasn't really nice and good value!
