The recently renovated Benguela Brasserie is a destination restaurant. It is situated in the bosom of the Wilderness National Reserve near Sedgefield. The Swartvlei Lagoon which is a wetland of international importance is at the bottom of the garden.

The restaurant takes its great surrounds in its stride. The ambiance is friendly and upbeat. The people who come here are so diverse that it couldn't be otherwise. Moms with kids in tow, water sports aficionados, captains of industry, locals and tourists, all end up at Benguela Brasserie.

Executive chef Kelly-Anne Pietersen serves brasserie-style cuisine with a French and Asian inspiration. Expect fresh seasonal ingredients sourced from farms in the surrounding Garden Route, made with the sort of creative twist one simply can't come up with at home. The restaurant serves Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate's superior wines. They are often described as easy-drinking, but they are also award-winning wines and boast a complex and flavoursome bouquet.

Benguela Brasserie caters for weddings and functions. When adding outside seating, it can accommodate 100 people.

Summed up, this is a wonderful place. It is a gustatory trap, and the dinner menu is especially so, but it is one which one does not mind stepping into.
