Description:
The restaurant is decorated in an eclectic mix of old and new and has a warm, cosy atmosphere. The outside terrace with its stunning views over the paddocks and mountains is popular in summer, and in winter a fire welcomes our guests.

The atmosphere within the restaurant is best described as relaxed and informal. Our emphasis is on unhurried meals in the company of good friends, without compromising excellent service. We serve champagne breakfasts & languorous lunches, & for our discerning health conscious guests, we try to provide organic produce where possible.

Autumn indulgence at Avontuur., 02 May 2010
Reviewer: anonymous (Adventurousness: I wish i had married a celebrity chef!)

Comments: Spent an enjoyable autumn afternoon at the Avontuur Restaurant. Set among vineyards and paddocks, with a view stretching from Cape Point to Lions Head, it's an ideal escape from the city and our party of 8 were generally pleased with the experience.

We sat at a table indoors, though one has the option of dining outside. We were offered wine to taste before the meal, then decided on which wine would accompany our courses. There is a fine choice of starters, and at least one in the party opted for soup and a starter as a main course. I ordered the Kingklip and was pleased with my choice, though a little startled by the tiny triangle of pastry which was more of a decoration than what I had expected. One person in the party found her linefish a little underdone, and the best choice would appear to have been the duckling. I was disappointed that two of the platters weren't on the restaurant menu (they were on the online menu and had been discussed as possible choices on our drive out along the N2).

All the desserts were popular - I ordered the deep-fried ice-cream and was more than satisfied with my choice.

After the meal we moved to the outside area where, weather permitting, there is comfortable furniture to enjoy coffee and conversation. You'll probably want to linger a while - this is a place for a long and leisurely lunch (although it looks great for breakfast as well). Definately a place to return to, to take guests, or to enjoy a special occasion.
