Description:
Former Willowbrook Lodge and D'vine Restaurant Managers
Anton Bekker and Ed Pearce have opened a new restaurant in Somerset West.
They purchased Burnt Orange coffee shop on the R44 in October last year and have since transformed it into an intimate & relaxed a la carte restaurant.

Named Taste, the restaurant certainly lives up to its name. Anton and former Pomegranate Head Chef Siraaj Allie man the kitchen and aim to let people taste the quality of the produce they use rather than mask it with complex flavours. The menu consists of 5 starters, 5 mains and a small selection of desserts. The menu changes on an almost daily basis assuring seasonal produce, freshness and variety on a regular basis.

Lunch is served from 12h00 - 14h30 and dinner is served from 18h00 - 20h00. (last table seated) The restaurant is closed on Tuesday evening's and all day Wednesday so even on a Sunday and Monday you can TASTE the experience they have to offer.

As the restaurant has limited seating it is advised that guest book in advance so as to avoid disappointment.

Head chef: Anton Bekker

Signature dish: Crispy Duck
Half a crispy duck served with white wine and orange jus.

Couldn't think of a better place to be., 26 Aug 2011
Reviewer: Berkley Petty (Adventurousness: I'll order it as per the menu.)

Comments: I always long to return to the Cape on business and holiday so that I can dine at Taste where the food is delicious, the wine divine and the service so personal. It is like visiting good friends except you know that you are guaranteed wonderful food. I love this little restaurant and the friendship of Anton, Ed and Natalie. I haven't travelled to the Cape for a while and one of the things I miss the most is Taste. Oh what I would do for their delicious duck.

WOW!, 01 Jun 2011
Reviewer: Debbie Montgomery (Adventurousness: I'll order it as per the menu.)

Comments: Considering there are more 'frequented' restaurants in the area! I was amazed at the quality of the food, as well as the awesome service and attention to detail in this quaint cosy restaurant. What a gem to find in S/West. If you have not been yet, you have no idea what you are missing.
