An integral part of life in Stellenbosch, Apprentice Restaurant is the Institute of Culinary Arts’ student-run and operated restaurant situated in a picture-perfect location on the vibrant and cosmopolitan Andringa Street of Stellenbosch.

The Institute of Culinary Arts is South Africa’s leading tertiary training school for aspiring world class chefs. All students from the school spend a period of their training in the various departments here, and the sophisticated Mediterranean menus change as students’ schedules are rotated.

Only the finest quality ingredients are sourced from local farms, and students are encouraged to be creative under the inspired tutelage of their chef lecturers. Wine tastings are conducted by proficient sommeliers, who guide students in wine and food pairing.

The restaurant is airy and elegant, with a calm atmosphere that completely belies the enormous amount of learning that is in progress here.

Delicious food, beautiful presentation, 02 Oct 2011
Reviewer: CM (Adventurousness: I'll order it as per the menu.)

Comments: My first visit to The Apprentice was for a slice of cheese cake, which was absolutely divine and paired deliciously with a berry drizzle. Two years later I returned to this well-established training restaurant to try out their dinner menu. I was impressed by the high standard of food and friendly and professional service staff. The current menu offers a great selection of dishes and I would especially recommend the pea and pork belly soup starter. These student chefs can hold a candle to many chefs out there and I hope to enjoy their food again in the future.
