I am a bit disappointed that the lady who used to answer the phone is no longer there, but non the less the food is outstanding. I have been eating there for the past 3 years now and loving it still. I hear they are moving but don't worry we will be there at the new place. Love those chickens. Keep it up.

Absolutely amazing! The food is fresh and delicious and the staff are super friendly. The place was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. Will definitely go there again...in fact its take out tonight!

Don't let the location fool you, once you step inside, the service is outstanding, and the food is amazing. I have been going to this little gem for quite some time, and I have never been disappointed. Whether it?s a business lunch with my boss, or a night out with my family, it is always a winner. The chicken is incredible and their traditional Portuguese dishes are defiantly worth a thought. The prawns, the tripe, the rabbit, it is all worth a try.

I eat out a lot and I can recommend this place as the best for Chicken and Prawns. I was there on Saturday and was once again proven correct!

The great service started with the phone call to book a table - answered in 3 rings by a very friendly and efficient lady, and once at the restaurant, Tom who appears to be the Maitre'D or senior waiter and the waitress who served us were very friendly and efficient.
The location is not the greatest, but once you are inside, the ambience is pretty good. I was impressed by the winelist - so many Jozi restaurants just do not make the effort in this regard and have only the usual suspects on offer - blegh! Here, you can choose from Graca through to French Champagne and Meerlust Rubicon, with quite a few great wines from some of the smaller estates, some average to very good MCCs and 5 or 6 Portuguese options. And the prices are very reasonable too - on average, probably around a 50-60% markup on bottle store prices. VERY impressed!
For starters, we just had a rissol each, tuna for my mom, and prawn for my fiancee and I. They were delicious. Mom had chicken breasts for main, and they were cooked perfectly - still moist and juicy - in a delicate lemon and herb sauce. Charmaine had the prawn curry, which I tasted too, and i must say it was good - not very hot, but beautifully flavoured allowing the taste of the prawns to come through under the spicing. After debating on prawn or crab curry, I eventually decided on tuna steak.
I really enjoy a good tuna steak, and in this country, I am often left sadly disappointed. I think this is probably because the catering supply companies slice the tuna too thin - at 10mm, it is really difficult not to overcook it, and it really should be cut at least 20-25mm thick, so I was quite disappointed when the tuna steak that arrived was one of teh thin cut ones. However, the chef did a superb job, and when I cut it, about 1mm on each side had been perfectly seared, with the middle still pink and juicy. It was topped with sautéed onions and a delicately spiced (mainly paprika I think) lemon butter dressing. Absolutely the best tuna steak I've eaten in South Africa!
Perhaps the only disappointment on the menu was the sweet options - some fairly decent offerings from an Italian gelateria, but some Portuguese options would have been a pleasing addition.

Great food and great prices. Best meal is always the Quarter chicken and 10 Queen Prawns.

I had a very good time at this place. The location is a bit off but once inside u feel at home and safe.

What more can I say. I travel 72km to buy their Piri piri chicken extra hot. It’s the best!
