This pub is awesome - had the most delicious homemade burger with caramelised onions - a real winner. The new owners were very accessible and hands on, Andre and Sandi Niemand. Looking forward to opening night on Saturday 2 June 2012 - should be loads of fun! Since the new owners took over, I give the restaurant 10 out of 10!
The real thing.

Tucked away in an alley off the main drag in Franschoek is a real English pub.
The menu is impressive and contains just about everything one could hope for in a pub. The draught ale with which I kicked off proceedings was a portent of things to come.
The plate of hake and chips came in a pleasing visual presentation - the garnish more like a side salad, the tartare sauce in a separate bowl, ample and delicious. The fish was fresh and succulent, fried to perfection in a crisp and wafer-thin batter. The chips were piping hot, crisp and golden brown, with the dimensions of real chips, not the emaciated fries of a take-away.
It's going to take some time to work my way through that menu, but I'll try - it's going to be fun.
Great Vibe

Finding this pub in a hidden corner in Franschhoek was a big surprise. The food is great and they have beer on tap! Some nights have live music which is also good fun.
