Americas

Food of the Americas is one of the most extensive and diverse cuisine types out there. Most of the diversity in American cooking is due to the European colonization of the Americas around the 10th century. This introduced new cooking styles, diets and ingredients and left America with a varied cuisine style across regions.

Some dishes that are typically considered American have their origins in other countries, such as German hamburgers and hotdogs, or Italian pizza. But America can be thanked for being the originator of food such as eggs benedict, macaroni and cheese and milkshakes.

Typically American food is known for their generous portions and isn't shy with their fats and oils. Nowadays new American cuisine is moving more towards a type of fusion cuisine using traditional American cooking techniques mixed with flavours from other cultures.

No matter the century however, the food of the Americas will always be at the forefront of must-try cuisine.
