Traditionally Pubs serve beer on tap, wine by the glass and a wide range of spirits and service is often casual or relies on patrons placing their order at the bar. Pub food, sometimes called "Pub Grub" is usually food that can be prepared quickly, and in large amounts. Wholesome and filling, the food complements the beer or wine giving you strength for your next pint! Common examples are bangers and mash, fish and chips or cottage pie.

Many pubs have a theme or style and the food will generally fit the theme. A bar, high stools, booths and dark wood surfaces is the typical decor of a traditional pub and many also have an outside seating area or beer garden for summer afternoons. Eating in a pub is informal and relaxed and is ideal for gatherings with friends or colleagues.
