Restaurant description

Gemelli, an Italian Restaurant situated in Bryanston, Johannesburg, was founded on the concept of great, wholesome Italian food for the entire family. The youngest of six, founder Alessandro Mosupi Khojane grew up in Roma, Italy, around a large family who enjoyed entertaining friends. This sparked his love for people and food, which over 10 years in the industry has developed into a passion for seeing truly happy customers enjoying their food experience. Because of the tight-knit team (some of whom have become part of la famiglia in the decade they've worked together), Gemelli feels like a home-away-from-home. The kitchen, led by Paulo Santo, serves inspired Italian dishes that are modern yet nostalgically familiar.

Gemelli's Italian food menu relates to and depends heavily on seasonality, sustainability and provenance in terms of the ingredients sourced. Italy, and its incomparable cuisine, is in our hearts. We explore innovative, contemporary ways of paying homage to its timeless flavour profiles and combinations, with an inspired touch of personality.

Modern, playful cooking styles and techniques, coupled with solid, classically definitive flavour pairings will translate into multiple courses intended to be light at heart in concept, yet entirely poignant and sincere in their delivery. Gemelli, whilst modest in its approach, aims to deliver high on food expectation at an accessible price tag.
