Riverside Caffe has one of the best locations in Sandton and with plenty of outside seating making it a favourite with both the local business community and the many tourists the area attracts. However location alone is not enough to guarantee success and hence owner Dino is always around to greet his many regular customers with a chat and a smile, and together with his wife, sister and cousin Rene ensure the day to day running of this bustling Caffe.

Breakfast is to many people the most important meal of the day, and Luca has taken this to heart with a menu ranging from the Supremo Riverside - a mammoth mixed grill including fried haloumi and fries, Italian style omelettes such as the grilled vegetable and feta, and mouth watering croissants with delicious fillings like the creamed spinach and mozzarella.

Lunch time options start with an impressive range of salads available in a myriad of combinations from grilled steak on rocket with Parmesan shavings to the formaggio Insalata with its four varieties of cheese ? mozzarella, feta, gorgonzola, and Parmesan shavings. Vegetarians are well catered for too with pasta dishes such as the stuffed pasta with haloumi and ricotta which is available with a choice of sauces to suit your taste.

Specialities that are recommended are the creamy roquefort steak roll, the El Greco lamb shank roasted on the bone, and the chicken lupini ? stuffed with spinach and mushrooms and covered with a creamy Madagascan pepper sauce. Traditional Italian favourites are the cubed fillet with soya and lemon herb or the liver Veneziana in an onion and white wine sauce. Don't forget to check out the weekly specials board too, and lastly remember to buy a freshly baked Italian loaf to take home to the family.
