Recently I had the pleasure of dining at Quay Four Tavern with my family. After a long week at the office we were excited to head to the V&A Waterfront to relax, unwind and indulge in some delicious seafood. Our booking at Quay Four was made for 7pm on a Friday evening, and we arrived right on time (to my surprise as having a 3 year old toddler does occasionally make time management a tad bit difficult.)

We were warmly greeted at the door and promptly shown to our seats - the perfect spot, just bordering the beautiful outdoor seating area, from where the views of the harbour are spectacular.

A few short minutes later the friendly manager popped in to welcome us and thereafter our lovely waitress was ready to take our order.

I ordered the Mai Tai Cocktail, consisting of spiced rum shaken cold with Amaretto, fresh lemon, orange and pineapple juice and a dash of grenadine - deliciously fruity and refreshing. My husband ordered a Peroni draught and later a Forester's draught, a light and refreshing pilsner - style beer, just right for a Friday evening. And of course the little one had to have a strawberry milkshake.

The drinks were brought not five minutes later and the little one shrieked in delight to find sprinkles and a great deal of cream on top of her very pink milkshake.

For starters we enjoyed the Smoked Salmon Salad and West Coast Mussels. The mussels were freshly prepared in a creamy garlic and white wine sauce, it was incredibly tender and almost melted in my mouth. The Smoked Salmon Salad was perfectly prepared, fresh, vibrant and full of flavour.

The little one enjoyed the kiddies Calamari and Chips, which she gobbled down with a smile.

Our mains consisted of a Beef and Reef combo and a Quay Four Combo. The Beef and Reef was served with a tender 200g sirloin steak, 3 grilled prawns, delicious garlic sauce and fries. (You may also enjoy a side of rice or salad with this meal.)

The Quay Four combo consists of a half portion of hake made with a delectable secret batter, 3 prawns, 3 mussels, deep fried calamari rings and fries. (You may also enjoy a side of rice or salad with this meal.)

While enjoying our meal we were also treated to some live music which really adds to the already vibrant atmosphere felt here. At Quay Four all your senses are pleased. The smell of the fresh sea breeze, the sounds of the water crashing below and the sea gulls overhead...

We were dazzled with the band playing that evening called Empire Alight. They played a great variety of songs that were definite crowd pleasers. The little one enjoyed showing us a few moves and I am pleased to say that Empire Alight has gained a fan.

A little while later we enjoyed some heavenly desserts. The three of us shared an ice-cream with smooth chocolate sauce and a mouth-watering sinfully rich dark chocolate mousse, both desserts were made to perfection and ended off our meals wonderfully.

Many years ago my dad would bring me to Quay Four as a little girl and I fondly remember the times we enjoyed here. During our recent visit, Quay Four definitely did not disappoint.

Overall we are very impressed with the quality of food and service offered by Quay Four.

Quay Four Tavern is located on the harbour's edge and buzzes with locals and visitors all year round. The Tavern offers a variety of light meals and salads, as well as hearty pub fare. Visitors can enjoy live bands 365 days a year. Perfect for date night or the whole family!

Quay Four also has an elegant upstairs restaurant where the emphasis is on fresh seafood. The à la carte menu also includes a variety of meat and poultry dishes. Visitors can look forward to superior quality food and a high calibre of service.
