Bertha's ReviewLocated in the pretty seaside Simon's Town you will find the water's edge Bertha's Restaurant boasting picturesque views across the yacht harbour and over False Bay. ![]() Recently my family and I had the pleasure of dining at Bertha's on a cool Cape Town Friday evening. Warmly greeted at the door, we were shown to our table and placed our order for drinks right away. I enjoyed a glass of Brampton Sauvignon Blanc, zesty upfront with passion fruit and litchi aromas. Hubby enjoyed the usual Castle Lite draught and the little one of course indulged in a strawberry milkshake. To start off with we enjoyed some West Coast Mussels prepared in a creamy and rich white wine sauce, deep fried calamari rings which were superbly tasty and fresh as well as a Salmon and Avo salad, packed full of flavour consisting of smoked salmon and avo, drizzled with a yoghurt and dill dressing and served on a bed of crisp greens. For mains we indulged in seafood pasta filled with mussels, prawns, calamari and catch of the day all perfectly tossed together in a creamy garlic white sauce with penne pasta - bursting with so many tantalising flavours and textures. We also enjoyed a kilo of prawns served with freshly prepared chips and a delicious garlic sauce. The little one enjoyed a kiddie's calamari and chips which was extremely tender and cooked to absolute perfection. She enjoyed every last bite! For dessert we opted to share a decadent Lindt chocolate brownie served with smooth vanilla ice-cream, which made for a perfect ending to our dining experience at Bertha's. The service was excellent and the relaxed, warm ambiance made for a great visit. Bertha's offers a varied menu - with the emphasis being on fresh seafood. It's safe to say there is probably something for everyone to enjoy from seafood platters to grills and burgers, a kiddies menu as well as an extensive wine list. They are also open for breakfast with a very reasonably priced breakfast menu. |
