Blowfish Restaurant ReviewOn a beautiful Friday evening we headed out to Blowfish Restaurant for dinner with the family. We arrived just as the sun was setting and were blown away by the magnificent views. After settling in to our well-positioned table we ordered some delicious wines, a glass of Rhebokskloof Sauvignon Blanc - a well-balanced wine with flavours of green figs and passion fruit with a crisp finish. My hubby also enjoyed a glass of wine - he opted for the Rhebokskloof Flat Rock Red Blend, which is a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. For starters we indulged in a delicious and generous portion of mussels. The Creamy Mussel Pot consists of half-shell mussels simmered in a creamy white wine, garlic and fresh herb sauce paired with the lovely toasted house bread. The mussels were incredibly tender, the sauce perfectly balanced. We enjoyed every last bite and would have licked the pot clean if we could. For mains I enjoyed the Penne Recco Prawns - a curry infused napolitana with hints of garlic and coriander, balanced with a splash of cream and served with penne pasta. The dish was wonderfully creamy and rich with a great bite to it. The portion was also very impressive. Hubby delighted in a 200g beef fillet along with a rainbow pepper and vanilla cream sauce as well as a side of hand-cut fries. The fillet was served medium, just as requested and could almost melt in your mouth. The fries were served hot and fresh and the sauce complimented this dish beautifully. Our little one enjoyed a delicious strawberry shake and a kiddies calamari and chips, served with a refreshing tartar sauce which she could not get enough of. For dessert we satisfied our sweet craving with a delicious Trio of Sorbet - seasonal sorbet drizzled in sparkling wine and basil syrup. The flavours, colours and textures were superbly vibrant. I particularly enjoyed the fruitiness and freshness of this dessert. The service we received from our lovely waitress was top-notch. She was a delight and made us feel right at home. The atmosphere here was incredibly relaxing and serene. The view of the breath-taking Table Mountain and the sounds of the ocean in the distance alongside the wonderful service and divine food made for a wonderful evening. |
