The famous Pirates Steakhouse located in Plumstead has been around for absolute ages, always offering warm, friendly and efficient service. They serve a great variety of delicious meals and refreshing drinks to satisfy any taste. Their food is well-priced, the atmosphere is relaxed and the service absolutely top-notch.

Recently we visited Pirates for a delicious dinner which was nothing short of amazing. Warmly greeted at the door on a chilly Cape Town evening we were promptly shown to our comfy table and placed our orders with our lovely waitress right away.

I enjoyed a refreshing cosmo, two other guests opted for a draught as well as a brandy and cola and my little one enjoyed her favourite strawberry milkshake.

For starters we opted for the super cheesy garlic roll, really fresh and smothered in melted mozarella and cheddar cheese. We also tried out the stuffed black mushrooms - fresh black mushrooms filled with creamed spinach (my absolute fav), a hint of garlic and finished off with a generous amount of perfectly grilled mozarella and cheddar cheese.

After thoroughly enjoying our starters we eagerly jumped right onto our mains. The little one delighted in a kiddies calamari and chips which she happily gobbled up in no time. (We were very impressed with the great kiddies menu available here).

I indulged in the 200g Chicken Schnitzel - golden fried to perfection served with a mouth-watering cheese sauce, flavourful baby potatoes and a side of steamy fresh veg. (A variety of sauces and sides are available to choose from).

Our two other guests both opted for delicious steaks. The first of which was the Pirate's Fillet - incredibly tender (melt in your mouth) fillet stuffed with grated cheddar cheese and smothered in delicious mushroom sauce, made to absolute perfection. Really tasty, tender and juicy, served with a lovely side of fresh fries.

The second order of steak was the amazing Pepper Melt Rump - prime rump topped with grated cheese and a deliciously creamy and rich pepper sauce. This dish was perfectly seasoned and really well-balanced, ticking every box!

I must add that both steaks were cooked perfectly and served just as we had requested.

We were amazed at the astonishingly generous portions served to us - really great value for money.

After filling up on our amazing main meals we opted to share some desserts - The Mississippi Mud Pie which was nothing short of heavenly - a rich chocolate brownie buried under a decadent layer of the most amazing hazelnut and chocolate mousse, covered with ganache and sprinkled with roasted Californian almonds. Needless to say we devoured this little treat in no time at all.

We also enjoyed the classic ice-cream and hot chocolate sauce which ended off our meals perfectly.

Our time at Pirates was magnificent to say the least. The service was friendly and efficient, the food excellent and the atmosphere truly one of a kind. The live music is also fantastic and makes for a vibrant dining experience.

Pirates Steakhouse is the ideal spot for date-night, a family dinner out or even a gathering of friends over some amazing food and drinks - perfect for every occasion.
