MAReSOL Review

Recently my family and I had the pleasure of dining at MAReSOL located in the V&A Waterfront. Their food is out of this world, the atmosphere relaxed and the service absolutely top-notch.

MAReSOL

MAReSOL boasts breath-taking harbour & mountain views. The restaurant is home to authentic Portuguese cuisine with a touch of Mozambican flair.

On arrival we were warmly greeted at the door and shown to our perfectly positioned table situated on the upper level boasting magnificent views of the surrounding area.

We were delighted to find that MAReSOL has recently launched a new Winter Set Menu, which we were very eager to try. Only R165 for 2 courses and R195 for 3 courses.

But first we settled in with a few cocktails. I opted for the Drunken Peach Ice Tea, which consists of spiced rum, vodka and peach schnapps with Fuze Ice Tea - absolutely delicious and refreshing.

My hubby opted for the Gentlemen's Dash consisting of whiskey, appletiser as well as lemon and lime - a great combination of flavours.

For starters I opted for the Calamari - pan fried sliced calamari steak and tentacles with chourico, roasted cherry tomatoes, black olives and rocket. This dish was wonderfully vibrant and boasted amazing rich flavours. My hubby indulged in the Chicken Liver starter, packed full of goodness with delicious onion and Piri Piri.

We also shared a portion of decadent mussels in a bacon, onion, garlic and Pernod cream sauce which was indescribably tasty.

Our little one gobbled down every last bite of her yummy kiddies calamari and chips.

After thoroughly enjoying our starters we happily headed straight into our mains - I enjoyed the Seafood Cataplana - a fragrant combination of prawns, catch of the day, calamari, courico and rice. Prepared and presened flawlessly, this portion was absolutely perfect for me.

My hubby delighted in the Portugese Steak which consisted of a 250g sirloin steak served with a fried egg, Portugese sauce and two sides of his choice. The steak was served medium just a requested and was incredibly tasty and tender.

To satisfy our sweet craving we indulged in a Portugese Pastry and Chocolate Tart for dessert. The Portugese Pastry features a traditional Portugese light custard tart served with smooth vanilla ice-cream and the heavenly chocolate tart is also served with vanilla ice-cream. We would have licked the dishes clean if we could as both desserts were sublime.

We were really so impressed with the service and quality of food offered at MAReSOL and cannot wait to visit again soon!
