Quay Four Tavern Review.

Recently my family and I had the pleasure of dining at the Quay Four Tavern on a cool Friday afternoon.

Our delightful waiter made us feel right at home, he took our orders and within no time at all, we had been served our drinks. He was very thorough and friendly and made our experience here all the more special.

I was particularly excited to be back at Quay Four to try out their new Winter Set Menu, where guests can enjoy two courses for R145.00 or three courses for only R175.00

I have always loved the generous portions here so we opted for the two courses. For the first course, I enjoyed the Hake and Calamari strips - half golden delicious hake, crisp calamari strips alongside a fresh tartar sauce and a side of fries or salad. As to be expected the seafood at Quay Four is always spectacular!

My hubby delighted in the Braised Lamb Shank with mash and veg for his first course - the lamb was rich and delectable, the meat quite literally falling of the bone, it was really tender and juicy. We were really impressed with this hearty winter dish.

Our little one delighted in a kiddies Calamari and chips along with a strawberry shake - a firm favourite of hers, every time we visit this lovely restaurant.

The two other members of our table enjoyed items from the regular menu, which included the scrumptious Quay 4 Combo - half portion hake, deep fried in their fabulous secret batter, 3 prawns, 3 mussels and calamari rings or steak, served with fries, rice or a side salad.

They also enjoyed the 200g Sirloin Steak served with a choice of fries or a side salad and creamed spinach and butternut.

The Quay 4 Combo is always a great hit, it never disappoints - the various elements on this dish is always perfectly cooked and balanced.

The 200g Sirloin Steak was served medium rare just as requested, it was really tasty and tender, served alongside a rich and creamy mushroom sauce and some extra basting sauce too.

For my second course I indulged in the Chocolate Mousse - a sinfully rich dark chocolate mousse, one of the best I have ever tasted!

For his second course, my hubby dug in to the Malva Pudding with a butterscotch sauce - great flavours and textures, a real winter winner!

My daughter delighted in the ice-cream and chocolate sauce which was amazing as always, we absolutely love the ice-cream and choc sauce from Quay Four and would gladly pop in for this every day of the week if we could!

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful staff at Quay Four Tavern for another magical visit. There is no doubt that we will be back again very soon!
