One of Durban's culinary gems, Al Firenze was established in 1988 under the helm of Tony de Sousa.
Tucked away in the leafy suburb of La Lucia, it would be easy to think that no one knows where to find this quaint Italian trattoria, but just the opposite is true. The superb quality food and relaxing ambience have been a jealously-guarded secret of locals for some time now.

Sample the authentic tastes of Italy without leaving the country. Include great value, consistency and freshness and you have a winning recipe.
This unpretentious eatery with a warm and welcoming vibe gives diners simple and tasty dishes served either in the breezy outside veranda, or inside in the quirky surrounds.

You can't go wrong with favourites like perfect pizza, spinach tortellini in sage butter with zabaione, or grilled prawns, but the seafood is the star of the show! Think super-fresh linefish grilled with fresh herbs and served with fresh seasonal vegetables! There's also plenty of heart-warming fare for those wintry days, like succulent lamb saddle, rabbit casserole, wild boletus mushrooms cooked with garlic and parsley or wild boar casserole.

There is something pleasingly old-fashioned about this casual trattoria with its red checked tablecloths, flags and aromas of the wood-fired oven. Its down-to-earth charm at its best and the ever-present buzz proves that that's just what people enjoy!
