For those who know Christian Lenferna de la Motte and Jean Mauvis, two well-known figures in the hospitality industry, the Ile Maurice will offer that same quality of food and excellent service for which they have been renowned for previously at the St. Geran Restaurant and now in Umhlanga. Jean Mauvis, who was taught by his ever-reliable mother Elsie, runs the kitchen in their new premises in McCausland Crescent, an old Umhlanga house that has been re-built to take best advantage of it's ocean views.

Christian Lenferna de la Motte after his various adventures overseas in Mauritius, Seychelles and Sardinia in the hospitality industry is now happy to partner Jean in this wonderful adventure.

The food was excellent and worth the prices. I realise that this is not an everyday venue, but is well worth it for a splurge.

I had the Crab Gratin, Duck Al'orange and the poached pear. My partner had the Soupe de Crabe, the linefish creole and the creme brulee. We could not fault anything. When asked to recommend a wine the waiter recommended a good wine, but did not immediately sell us the most expensive.

I couldn't have been taken to a better venue for a romantic culinary evening!"
