Restaurant description

At Borage we always do our best to offer meals that are made with seasonal ingredients, fusing Capetonian influence with modern European cuisine.

Borage Bistro is casual excellence made real.

The brainchild of entrepreneur Christian Vaatz and long time friend Frank Marks, is situated in the Portside Tower- Cape Town's new tallest building- and aims to combine the afropolitan and multi-cultural persona of our beloved Mother City.

The culinary mission is clear to everyone who enters the seemingly industrial and urban premises: To combine modern European cuisine with simplicity, spicing it up with a homely and casual service concept and serving it on a hot plate, while focussing on best quality on every level.

Lunch is served from 12pm to 3.30pm Monday to Friday. Booking is advisable on Thursdays and Fridays. The menu changes on a regular basis, but always offers around six main dishes and two desserts, ranging in price from R45 to R105.

By creating our Lunch options, we always try our best to cook with seasonal ingredients and give locally sourced produce preference. As a result, our Lunch menu is a colourful fusion of modern European cuisine with a distinct local touch.

Sandwiches
We offer honest sandwiches made out of the finest ingredients for fair prices - the perfect Lunch snack to enjoy with a freshly squeezed juice, good ol' Truth coffee or organic Enmasse tea.

Boulangerie & Deli
Our homemade croissants, pan au chocolate and brioche are baked in-house, made out of 100% natural, preservative and additive free ingredients. Freshly baked every morning!

The same applies for our eclectic range of seasonal homemade deli products, such as marmalades, spreads and preserves. Our Hazelnut Praline spread is apparently to die for, a popular treat. But there's also fiery pickled ginger, ideal to enhance teas or to render a special touch to a cheeseboard. And of course, our famous classic orange marmalade, which is probably capable of changing your impression of the anticipated bitterness of the commonly misunderstood product.

The food is absolutely amazing. I have been there a couple of times, each time to try something else, and every time it has been delicious. The chef has so much passion for food, and that is visible in the presentation and as well as the taste of the food."
