Orinoco restaurant and deli was conceived and developed by Venezuelan born Chef Migdalia Bellorin. She began her chef's career in Cape Town through her catering business 'Constantia Cuisine' and also operated her Latino food stalls at markets such as the Stellenbosch Slow Food and Cape Town Earthfair. The stall has also been highly successful at popular events such as The Good Food & Wine Show, the Stellenbosch Wine Show and the recent Constantia Food & Wine festival. Through these enterprises she has identified a consumer enthusiasm and demand for her authentic Latino cuisine and has developed a loyal following.

Combining fresh local and imported ingredients she has created a range of flavours that captures the essence of Latin America and sets it apart from the bland copies available up to now. Orinoco consists of a lively, informal restaurant in the heart of Cape Town with a deli section selling Orinoco's own brand range of chilli sauces and other Latino products. The original catering service continues through Orinoco offering both Latino menus and her extensive internationally accented selection. The restaurant is available as a venue for private events and parties and offers a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with plenty of Latino vibe!

Venezuelan born Chef Migdalia has been catering in Cape Town through her company Constantia Cuisine since 2007. In 2009 she began an experiment to introduce real Latino street food at her popular market stalls in Cape Town and Stellenbosch where her vibrant personality and direct style became as much an attraction as the food itself! Migdalia previously spent five years in Mexico City where she developed her passion for different types of Latino food. In 2011 she decided to take a culinary pilgrimage through parts of Latin America less familiar to her and visited Argentina, Chile and Peru in search of new flavours to bring to Cape Town. There, on her 4,000 km overland odyssey from the wine growing regions to the high Andes and the Atacama desert, she tasted such delicacies as grilled guinea pig, barbecued llama and pico loco (the crazy biting mollusc of southern Chile) and drank 'chicha' - Inca beer brewed in local houses from potatoes or maize. On her return she decided to open her own restaurant at 17 Bree Street under her Orinoco brand where she serves authentic Latino dishes from around the continent.

Excellent tapas that stands out from other 'Mexican' or tapas menus around Cape Town. Feels home cooked and authentic, lovely full flavours.

Will definitely be back

Migdalia was brilliantly attentive and explained everything in her thick South American accent which adds to the ambiance. Lots of tequila, margaritas and fun fun fun. Will definitely be back."
