Restaurant description

Situated in the leafy surrounds of the High Constantia centre, Greens is one of those restaurants that has a pleasantly relaxed ambience, despite a steady flow of customers throughout the day. The d?cor is contemporary with the emphasis on natural materials such as wood and stone, and a collection of sepia-toned prints harmonizes perfectly with the under-stated interior. A small lounge area provides additional seating for enjoying a freshly brewed cup of Lavazza imported Italian coffee or perhaps a pre-dinner drink. The open-plan kitchen affords diners a close up view of "kitchen theatre" and ensures excellent standards of food preparation.

The spacious front patio looks out onto a canopy of stately trees and majestic mountain views, to provide a delightful setting for al fresco dining. Shady in summer, thanks to the awnings, and cosy in winter with the addition of outside heaters, the patio remains popular throughout the year. Greens is fully licensed, and the wine list offers a selection from well known vineyards in the Western Cape, together with some of our local Constantia wines from nearby Groot Constantia, Steenberg and Buitenverwachting.

The menu offers a substantial choice of breakfasts from the Traditional English, to the ever popular Eggs Benedict, as well as the more adventurous combination of French toast, bacon and berries. Favourites at lunch time include Open Sandwiches with a variety of fillings, freshly prepared salads (such as the Bacon, Beetroot, Feta and Pumpkin seeds), and the De Luxe Beef Burger with bacon, cheddar and onion marmalade. Crispy thin based Pizzas, which are prepared in a wood-fired oven, are popular in the evenings, and the gourmet selection offers some unusual combinations such as Smoked chicken, Brie and Cranberry. Other recommendations are the fresh Kingklip, Chefs 360g Beef Fillet Steak, and the Penne Amatriciana for those who enjoy their pasta with a bit of a bite.

The food is always good and we can take our well behaved hound who sits under the table quietly. The tables and chairs are always nice and clean too. We have never had a poor meal at Greens - please don't let the management change.

We live out near Cape Point and make a beeline for Greens whenever we have business in Town which is often. Thanks."
