Restaurant description

We've been dreaming about this project for years and to finally see it all come together, makes one believe that miracles still happens to those who believe...

Our restaurant is all about eating great food and enjoying our selection of superb wines, which is sure to satisfy all tastes. The best of all, enjoying all of this in a relaxed atmosphere almost like walking into your friends home for dinner.

Ke-monate is a Sotho word meaning 'dis lekker' or 'that's nice'. Why Sotho...well our mother, Elmi de Wit grew up in the Free State and the first language she could speak was Sotho, and she still speaks it fluently today.

The vineyard surrounding Ke-Monate is owned by our father, WRM de Wit, who enjoys restoring old cannons. The canon standing in front of the building is the original cannon that was fired on top of Hoogeberg Hill. The canon was part of the signal chain formed by the VOC which called the Burgher Militia to defend the Cape in those days.
