The Krugmann's Grill is warmly tucked at the Kings Warehouse of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. The deco is too magnificent! Upon entering, one is greeted by an illuminated waterfall which gives off a feeling of calmness, and a sure sign that one's meal is going to be a treat. This feeling is soon overcome by excitement as moments later, one is already within the bar area. This dimly lit area shows off a spectacular display of a number of loosely scattered and chilled bottles of bubbly, seemingly thrown into a ditch inside the floor showing excessive flamboyance.

The Grill also boasts Champagne & Oyster Bar. Needless to say the champagne is some of the finest, and the accompaniment of oysters is quite remarkable. One should always be allowed life's little indulgences! What makes this indulgence even more exceptional is that the oysters are also the freshest, seeing that the Krugmann's Grill is the baby sister to the already established Cape Town Fish Market Group.

For those wishing for a more communal way of dining, there are a number of separate rooms, which allow for exclusivity; restricted access and privacy. For those who are not too fazed by dining openly, there are semi-booths available, on the lower and upper level. These are richly decorated with red ostrich leather, which are striking and balance the rustic look of the brownstone walls and wood-paneling effect within the restaurant. The tables are quaintly lined with the Krugmann's memorabilia, and family memoirs.

The menu offers one a variety of dishes. One is given an option for either a hot or cold starter. The steaks are A-Grade of course, and range from tender fillet, to well-marbled sirloin and juicy cuts of rump. The game selection ranges from ostrich to venison. Seafood lovers are also catered for, with choices of grilled Kingklip, Crayfish and East Coast Sole. The Burgers are too divine! There are combinations such as camembert and sweet chilli and masala and pineapple burgers. Wine connoisseurs are going to have a field day! The wine menu caters for all palates, with smooth chardonnays, to mouth-watering cabernet sauvignon, and exceptional blends.

It's quite challenging to describe the ambience, but it would be best to state that it is very classy, sheer elegance and understated opulence. Should one be in the mood to impress a special one, or if one wants to catch up with friends at the Champagne and Oyster Bar, or wish to dine exclusively, the Krugmann's Grill is the place to be and to be seen!

Their tempura onion rings are so yummy, I ate my sisters as well. Service was a bit slow, but the waitress warned us before that it would take a while as they were quite busy."
