An eclectic African decor enhanced by wooden masks, ostrich shells and other traditional ornaments sets the mood for a superb ambience with the famous African String Quartet or Angelique Kidjo playing soothingly in the background. A spacious outside patio with covered bamboo ceiling overlooks a spectacular display of roses and lavender to provide a splendid backdrop for al fresco dining.

The menu of Paljas, the house of good food, depicts the diversity of a true African cuisine. The food is presented in a very contemporary style, even though some of the recipes are more than 300 years old. It takes the diner on a taste trip back in time, and at the same time, on a taste trip around the country. We also believe in the concept "cuisine du teroir" and Africa and its rainbow cuisine is our "teroir". Paljas, meaning magical, combines an array of spices and fresh produce to present magnificent cuisine for the discerning diner.

An exciting combination of tastes and textures forms the basis of this diverse menu. For starters the Trio of Venison - ostrich, crocodile and springbok served on a mielie meal flapjack is highly recommended and guaranteed to impress a jaded palate. Main course specialities include a traditional Cape Malay Chicken Curry and an impressive Xhosa Fusion Ostrich Fillet which combines the best of African and Asian influences. A selection of side dishes with a distinctly African flavour - Umngqusho (samp and beans), Zulu Cabbage, and Sweet Potato wedges, to mention but a few, have been carefully chosen to compliment the main courses, and can be combined to make an unusual and tempting vegetarian platter.
