Restaurant description

From the moment you step inside Alexanders you will find it hard to resist the tempting aroma of freshly baked breads, pastries and pies, or the sight of the deli fridges filled with an assorted of freshly prepared vegetable dishes and meat products. The atmosphere is friendly and bustling and whether it be breakfast, mid morning coffee or a hearty lunch the tables are buzzing with the chatter of regular customers. Wooden furniture combined with soft browns and oranges creates a stylish yet rustic ambience which is both warm and welcoming. In the same way you don?t need to be Italian to enjoy Italian cuisine, it is certainly true that you don?t need to be Jewish to savour Alexanders delicious food.

Energy low? Need some punch? Come to Alexanders for breakfast and lunch. We offer a large variety of nutritious food, Most of it homemade and oh so good! Our chicken soup and kneidle, is as luscious as our taigle We have divine blintzes too, meat and cheese, whichever suits you.

Among our specialities is hot beef on rye. So full of meat - just give it a try. Mock-crayfish made with a delicious sauce, to have as a starter or main meal of course. We have lots of traditional Jewish cuisine for you, chopped liver and a variety of herrings too. You want traditional Jewish specialties? Pastrami on rye, brisket on rye, chicken soup with kneidl or perogen, latkes, various herrings, blintzes, shwarma platters, gefilte fish. Go to the deli counters and choose from chopped herring, kosher pickles, various salads, bagel chips, and sometimes, honey cake. Also, this is a good place to sample items unique to the South African Jews, like mock crayfish, Danish herring, curried fish balls, and classic Litvishe teiglach and kichel. Check it out!"
