Restaurant description

Located opposite the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, Sleepers Restaurant and Bar can be found in the old Station Building at Hoedspruit Station. The building has been beautifully renovated, while maintaining the station feel and atmosphere of a bygone era. While the trains rumble by, relax at the bar with something cool and refreshing before treating yourself to a good selection of South African cuisine. The menu also offers more general fare, ranging from tasty pizzas to perfectly grilled steaks and chips. With it?s laid back atmosphere and excellent food on offer, Sleeper?s Restaurant and Bar in Hoedspruit is the perfect place to chill out, have a nibble and enjoy the good company of friends.

While staying just outside Hoedspruit for a weekend from Johannesburg, my partner and I decided not to cook alot everyday. After looking on the net at a number of restaurants Sleepers was the only one that would send me their menu via email. After going through the menu it was decided to try it out. The atmosphere was very casual, lots of guests in and out and a fantastic refurbish of the old station, even with trains still passing by. The steak ordered was probably the most tender steak I have had for years I thought you can't find them anymore (bought from Almadre butchery Nelspruit). Maja the manageress come one of the shareholders was very hospitable and interesting to listen to. I would recommend this restaurant any time. Best chilli sauce at R30-00 a jar."
